Generally defined, consulting is the process of communication, the purpose of which is to make decisions about which actions will most effectively address a client's needs. InfoSolutions brings unique experience and expertise to this process and can facilitate decision-making.

We offer three primary approaches to consulting.

1. Enterprise Consulting focuses on the organization as a whole. In the initial phase, we identify, with the client, the philosophy and guidelines, if any, that may exist for knowledge management. We then assess the client's search and information management needs, particularly in light of any goals established when we were first brought in. We evaluate how information / content is generated, distributed, updated, consumed, and archived. We identify goals for optimizing the search and management of information during these five stages in the information life cycle and offer specific suggestions to create more comprehensive, efficient, and cost effective methods.
   
   To promote the long-term value from our consulting, we work with the client to establish or improve their approach to information management. We offer assistance in establishing standards that will guide the more specific implementation of information management solutions. We also recommend specific projects and identify their potential value to the organization. Enterprise Consulting often becomes the basis for the next approach, Project Consulting.



2. Project Consulting focuses on the specific requirements and goals of a project. InfoSolutions works with the client to understand specific needs, explore options, and decide on a process for implementing a solution. This approach to consulting uses the client's existing information management system as a base for developing the solution. That base may have existed before we began our work, or may be the result of prior Enterprise Consulting.
   
   After the process for implementing the solution has been decided, InfoSolutions develops proposals, which address the specific elements of the project. At this point we move with the client into Implementation Consulting.



3. Implementation consulting focuses on the process of defining the design specifications and implementation strategies of a project. To the extent that the client has already defined their needs and also limited the scope of the project, Implementation Consulting may be the only approach necessary to meet their needs.
   
   In its most basic form it is a process to make sure we (InfoSolutions) understand the specifications defined by the client so that we can carry out the development roles that are being contracted to us.

Working together closely with our clients, we come to understand the organizational environment into which our solutions will be deployed. We also develop long-term relationships with many of our clients allowing our ongoing work to be enjoyable and built on the trust developed in our initial projects.
